Counting Thyme

In Counting Thyme, Thyme, the main character faces her fears when her brother, Val gets cancer. I loved this book because it is sad and happy at the same time. I also like this book because it is reality. The genre of this book is realistic fiction. Counting Thyme is one of my favorite books. This is the back book blurb: ''When eleven year old Thyme Owen's little brother, Val is accepted into a new cancer drug trial, Thyme and her family are overjoyed. It's just the chance they've been hoping for, even though it means moving to New York, thousands of miles away from their home in San Diego. The change is tough on Thyme; she misses her family's house, her best friend, Shani, her grandmother and their secret garden. To make matters worse, the bustling streets of New York aren't exactly welcoming, but Thyme trusts the move is only temporary. When Val's treatment starts to show promise and her dad takes a full-time job in the city, Thyme is forced to accept that New York might become more permanent  than she thought. her feelings become more mixed-up when her heart feels the tug of new friends, a first crush, and even a grumpy neighbor and his sweet whistling bird. All Thyme can do is count minutes, the hours, and days, and hope time can bring both a miracle to both Val and a way back home. Melanie Conklin's sparkling debut is equal parts heart and humor, a charming story of love and family-and what it means to be counted''

Walk Two Moons

I enjoyed reading Walk Two Moons because it had two separate stories in one book. In the book, there was a story that Salamanca, (the main character) was going through and a story that Salamanca was reading to her grandparents. I would recommend this book to a person who enjoys reading realistic fiction books.  Here is the back blurb: '' How about a story? Spin us a yarn.'' Instantly, Phoebe Winterbottom came to mind. ''I could tell you an extensively strange story,'' I warned. ''Oh good!'' Gram said. ''Delicious!'' And that is how I happened to tell them all about Phoebe, her disappearing mother, and the lunatic. As Sal entertains her grandparents with Phoebe's outrageous story, her own story begins to unfold-the story of a thirteen-year old girl whose only wish is to be reunited with her missing mother. In her own award-winning style, Sharon Creech intricately weaves together two tales, one funny, one bittersweet...
